Massive Greenbrier Preserve Development adds more homes in Huntsville

More homes are planned for a large development in west Huntsville as the city continues to approve new growth projects, according to online reports.

More Homes Approved at Greenbrier Preserve

The Huntsville Planning Commission recently approved additional homes for the Greenbrier Preserve development in Limestone County.

Officials granted preliminary approval for 43 homes in the second phase of the Heritage Park section. The neighborhood sits south of Swancott Road and west of Rabbit Lane.

The larger Greenbrier Preserve project plans to include more than 1,100 homes overall. In addition, more than 400 homes are expected in the surrounding development area near Heritage Park.

Development Focuses on Workforce Housing

City planners say the project aims to balance affordability and quality. Homes in the development are expected to range from about 1,700 to 2,700 square feet.

The community will also include green space and a playground. Part of the open space borders the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge.

Officials previously approved additional lots in the Maple Grove section of the development. Therefore, construction activity in the area is expected to continue growing.

Planners noted the project could help provide housing for workers employed by nearby companies, including Mazda Toyota Manufacturing.

Other Huntsville Projects Move Forward

The commission also approved several nearby developments. These include a 33-lot subdivision near Swancott Road and a 120-lot expansion of the Bradford Crossing development in west Huntsville.

In addition, officials approved renovation plans for McDonnell Elementary School. The project will include a gym addition, updated interiors, and exterior improvements.

Meanwhile, the commission approved final plans for 48 apartment units at Grove at Indian Creek near Jeff Road and Capshaw Road.

As Huntsville continues to grow, city leaders say these projects will help meet rising housing and infrastructure needs across the region.
