Several Alabama companies, including multiple based in Huntsville, have secured major defense contracts worth nearly $1 billion, according to online reports.
Major Pentagon Awards for Alabama Firms
Six Alabama-based organizations received contracts from the U.S. Department of Defense in April. The work spans construction, engineering, drone systems, and advanced defense technologies.
Collectively, the contracts total nearly $1 billion. In addition, they support projects tied to national defense infrastructure and military readiness.
Huntsville Companies Lead Key Contracts
Several Huntsville companies received significant awards. For example, Dynetics secured a $617 million contract to supply missile defense systems. These systems help protect against cruise missiles, rockets, and unmanned aircraft threats.
Meanwhile, Radiance Technologies received at least $149.7 million to upgrade missile testing infrastructure at the Reagan Test Range in the Marshall Islands.
In addition, BlueHalo was awarded $19 million for advanced materials research, including ceramic development and modeling work.
Broader Statewide Defense Impact
Other Alabama institutions also secured contracts. For instance, Auburn University received nearly $49 million for engineering and aviation support tied to Army development programs.
In addition, BL Harbert International won a $129 million contract to build military housing in Missouri.
Furthermore, Performance Drone Works received a $15.3 million award to supply unmanned aircraft systems for defense operations.
As a result, these contracts highlight Alabama’s strong role in national defense work. They also reinforce Huntsville’s position as a key hub for aerospace and military technology.
