The University of Alabama in Huntsville is giving its beloved mascot, Charger Blue, a fresh new look as the university expands his role across campus and the community.
A new chapter for Charger Blue
According to online reports, UAH has introduced a new collection of illustrations featuring Charger Blue in a variety of outfits and settings.
The updated designs allow the mascot to appear in everything from a basketball jersey to business-professional attire. As a result, the university can use Charger Blue in more events, marketing campaigns and community outreach efforts.
University leaders say the goal is to make the mascot a more visible goodwill ambassador while strengthening the school’s overall brand identity.

Nearly 40 years as UAH’s mascot
Charger Blue has represented UAH since 1986. Over the decades, the horse mascot has become one of the university’s most recognizable symbols at athletic events, student activities and campus celebrations.
The refreshed illustration collection builds on UAH’s broader branding efforts, including the athletics logo introduced in 2025.
Rather than replacing the mascot, the redesign gives Charger Blue greater flexibility to connect with students, alumni and the Huntsville community.
More than a game-day mascot
UAH plans to feature Charger Blue in more places beyond sporting events. The new artwork gives the mascot a personality that fits a wide range of occasions, from campus celebrations to professional and academic settings.
For Chargers fans, the update keeps a familiar tradition alive while giving one of UAH’s most recognizable figures a modern look for the years ahead.
