Hound & Harvest announces closure after one-year run

After a year of creating a niche as a pet-friendly neighborhood dining spot, Hound & Harvest has announced it will close permanently on Sunday, July 13, at 4:00 p.m.

Strong community support, but infrastructure challenges

The business, which opened in the summer of 2023, became known for its welcoming patio, dog-friendly environment, and community-focused atmosphere.

Despite strong local support, including a loyal customer base and frequent full houses, the owners cited long-term operational limitations with their current location as the driving force behind the decision to close. Attempts to relocate were ultimately unsuccessful due to a combination of high commercial lease rates, landlord requirements favoring national tenants, and lengthy build-out timelines that were not financially feasible.

“While we had no trouble staying busy, the infrastructure simply didn’t support what we needed to grow,” said co-owner Jordan. “We explored multiple new sites, but each presented challenges we couldn’t overcome in today’s market.”

A unique dining experience for guests and pets

From the outset, Hound & Harvest distinguished itself through its pet-welcoming design and thoughtful approach to hospitality. The restaurant hosted everything from casual brunches to pet-centric events, fostering a loyal following that included both two-legged and four-legged guests.

In addition to closing its doors, the business will hold a liquidation sale from Monday, July 7, through Sunday, July 20. Appointments are required to participate in the sale, and interested buyers can call (256) 384-5135 to schedule a time.

Reflections on a meaningful chapter

Though the business is closing, the owners expressed deep appreciation for the community that embraced their vision. “We are incredibly grateful for the memories, the laughter, and the love shared here. This restaurant was built on more than food—it was built on connection,” the team shared in a farewell message on social media.
