Bestselling legal thriller author Robert Bailey has released a new novel set in Huntsville, marking the first time he has used his hometown as the backdrop for one of his books, according to online reports.
New thriller brings Huntsville into the spotlight
Robert Bailey recently released The Mediator, his 12th novel and the first in his career to be set in Huntsville.
The legal thriller follows Max Ringo, a former trial attorney attempting to rebuild her life after personal struggles. However, her efforts take a dramatic turn when her son is kidnapped during a high-profile mediation case.
In addition, the novel has earned national attention. Reports indicate it reached the USA Today bestseller list and ranked highly in Amazon’s legal thriller and conspiracy thriller categories.
Local landmarks inspire the story
Bailey said Huntsville’s unique mix of technology, aerospace innovation, and small-town character made it an ideal setting for a thriller series.
Furthermore, the book features references to familiar Huntsville locations and local culture. The author noted that longtime residents may recognize some well-known gathering spots woven into the story.
He also pointed to the area’s connection to aerospace research, defense industries, and surrounding rural communities as sources of inspiration for the novel’s setting and atmosphere.
First Huntsville novel may become a series
According to online reports, Bailey plans to continue using Huntsville as the backdrop for future stories. He has indicated that The Mediator is intended to launch a new series centered on the character Max Ringo.
In addition, the book marks Bailey’s first novel featuring a female lead character. The story unfolds over a fast-paced three-day timeline, making it one of his quickest-moving plots to date.
Finally, Bailey said he hopes readers both inside and outside Alabama will discover what makes Huntsville unique while following a suspense-filled legal thriller.
