The acquisition of Crestwood Medical Center by Huntsville Hospital Health System is now complete, marking a major shift in North Alabama’s healthcare landscape, according to online reports.
Acquisition Deal Finalized
The deal officially closed on March 31. Under the agreement, Huntsville Hospital Health System acquired Crestwood Medical Center from Community Health Systems.
The transaction was valued at approximately $450 million and includes Crestwood’s hospital, clinics, outpatient services, and a freestanding emergency department.
Crestwood Name and Operations Remain
Despite the ownership change, Crestwood Medical Center will continue operating under its existing name. In addition, there are no immediate changes planned for services or day-to-day operations.
Hospital leadership emphasized continuity for patients and staff. As a result, existing care teams, physicians, and service structures will remain in place.
Plans Focus on Expansion and Coordination
Huntsville Hospital Health System has outlined early plans that include updating equipment, making use of unused space, and implementing a unified electronic health record system.
These updates are intended to improve coordination across facilities. Therefore, the acquisition is expected to support long-term growth and increased capacity in the region.
Part of a Broader Regional Strategy
The health system operates multiple hospitals across North Alabama and neighboring areas. With this addition, it continues to expand its network of care facilities.
In addition, the system has announced plans for new emergency departments and outpatient services in parts of the region. As Huntsville continues to grow, the acquisition positions the organization to better meet increasing healthcare demand.
