Huntsville businesses in the Mill Creek District can now apply for funding to improve the exterior of their commercial properties.
New grant offers up to $24,999
The City of Huntsville launched the Mill Creek Façade Improvement Grant Program to help upgrade commercial and mixed-use buildings in the district.
According to online reports, eligible projects can receive up to $24,999 in funding. The program covers several exterior improvements, including painting, surface cleaning and repairs to windows, doors and framing.
Funding can also support exterior lighting, signs and canopies. The city has selected Strozier Construction Company as the program’s general contractor.
Who can apply for the program?
The grant targets commercial properties within the Mill Creek Neighborhood. Owners of mixed-use buildings can also apply if the property has commercial space on the ground floor.
The program focuses on building exteriors rather than residential improvements. Applicants must own or operate an eligible commercial building within the designated neighborhood boundary.
Property owners will contribute 10% of the project cost upfront. The city will cover the remaining eligible expenses through the grant.
How to apply for Mill Creek funding
Interested property owners can submit an application through the city’s online application portal. Applicants can also contact the City of Huntsville Community Development Department for more information about the program.
The initiative gives local property owners an opportunity to make visible improvements while helping enhance the Mill Creek District’s commercial spaces.
