Nick Saban’s coaching career will take center stage this fall when ESPN premieres a new six-part documentary series about the legendary coach.
‘Saban’ premieres in October
According to online reports, ESPN will premiere “Saban” on Thursday, Oct. 8. The full six-part series will also arrive on the ESPN app that day.
Fans who prefer a weekly viewing schedule can watch each episode on ESPN throughout October and early November.
The series will explore Saban’s entire coaching journey. It will also place a major focus on his 17 seasons with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
A closer look at Saban’s career
The documentary will revisit some of the biggest moments from Saban’s career. It will also explore the experiences that shaped his coaching philosophy.
The series covers his stops at Michigan State, LSU and the Miami Dolphins. Of course, Alabama will play a central role.
Saban spent 17 seasons in Tuscaloosa and led Alabama to six national championships. His tenure helped establish the Crimson Tide as one of college football’s dominant programs.
The production will also feature hundreds of hours of previously unseen footage. Viewers will get a behind-the-scenes look at locker rooms, practices and other moments from Saban’s career.

More than 70 voices join the series
The documentary features interviews with more than 70 people connected to Saban’s career.
The lineup includes Miss Terry Saban, Bill Belichick, Lane Kiffin, Steve Sarkisian, Kirby Smart, Tim Tebow, Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa.
Saban also takes part in the project and reflects on his coaching career. He said the series gave him and his wife an opportunity to look back on the journey and the process behind his success.
Russell Dinallo directs the documentary, while Words + Pictures produces the series.
For Alabama football fans, the project offers a fresh look at the coach who helped define an era in Tuscaloosa.
