Orion Amphitheater earns Top 10 global ranking for concert success

Huntsville’s Orion Amphitheater has earned one of its highest international rankings yet after being named among the world’s top-grossing and best-attended outdoor concert venues in Pollstar’s 2026 Mid-Year Top 50 rankings.

Orion Amphitheater Earns Top 10 Global Ranking

Pollstar’s annual Mid-Year Top 50 Amphitheatre rankings measure venues worldwide based on ticket sales and gross revenue generated from concerts held between Nov. 13, 2025, and May 13, 2026.

According to reports, Huntsville’s Orion Amphitheater ranked eighth worldwide in gross revenue, generating approximately $2.34 million during the reporting period. The venue also ranked 10th globally for tickets sold, with more than 28,000 tickets purchased across its concert lineup.

Orion officials called the rankings the venue’s strongest performance to date and thanked fans, artists, promoters, and staff members for helping establish Huntsville as a destination for live entertainment.

Pollstar Mid-Year Rankings Results

According to online reports, these were the highest-ranked amphitheaters on Pollstar’s 2026 Mid-Year Gross Revenue list:

  1. Sidney Myer Music Bowl (Melbourne, Australia)
  2. St. Augustine Amphitheatre (Florida)
  3. Red Rocks Amphitheatre (Colorado)\
  4. White River Amphitheatre (Washington)
  5. Germania Insurance Amphitheater (Texas)
  6. Isleta Amphitheater (New Mexico)
  7. The Greek Theatre (Berkeley, California)
  8. Orion Amphitheater (Huntsville, Alabama)
  9. Greek Theatre (Los Angeles, California)
  10. BankNH Pavilion (New Hampshire)

 

For ticket sales, Orion placed 10th worldwide with 28,007 tickets sold. Sidney Myer Music Bowl led that category with more than 201,000 tickets sold, while Florida’s St. Augustine Amphitheatre ranked second.

Among Alabama venues, Orange Beach’s The Wharf Amphitheater also appeared on both Pollstar rankings, finishing 27th in gross revenue and 27th in tickets sold. Auburn’s Ham Amphitheatre at the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center also earned a spot on the gross revenue list.

Strong Concert Lineup Driving Success

The Orion’s 2026 concert calendar has featured performances by artists including Rod Stewart, Ethel Cain, T.I., Creed, HARDY, Stephen Marley, and Billy Strings.

The venue, which seats approximately 8,000 guests, has continued attracting nationally recognized touring acts while expanding Huntsville’s reputation as a live entertainment destination.

According to reports, the amphitheater first opened in 2022 and quickly gained national attention, including recognition from Rolling Stone. Since then, it has hosted major artists such as Stevie Nicks, Robert Plant, Lana Del Rey, Neil Young, Jack White, Weezer, and Phish, several of whom performed in Huntsville for the first time.

Huntsville’s Entertainment Growth Continues

The Orion is operated by The Venue Group (tvg hospitality), which manages the amphitheater under contract with the City of Huntsville. The company has also been involved in other local entertainment projects, including the redevelopment of The Lumberyard downtown.

According to online reports, plans for a proposed indoor concert venue with a capacity of 2,500 to 3,000 guests were announced in 2025, although construction has not yet begun.

The latest Pollstar rankings further reinforce Huntsville’s growing status in the live music industry, placing the Orion Amphitheater alongside some of the world’s most recognized outdoor concert venues and highlighting the city’s continued rise as a destination for major touring performances.
