Madison County continues to show strong job growth, reporting one of the lowest unemployment rates in Alabama, according to online reports.
Madison County Unemployment Rate Stays Low
Madison County recorded a 2.4% unemployment rate for March. This figure comes in below the statewide average of 2.7%. Data was released by the Alabama Department of Labor.
As a result, the county ranks among the top-performing areas in the state for employment.
Job Numbers Improve Year Over Year
Unemployment rates have declined compared to the same time last year. In fact, Madison County and surrounding counties all reported lower rates than March 2025.
Cities across the region also saw improvement. For example, Huntsville posted a 2.5% rate, while Madison came in at 2.2%.
Meanwhile, nearby cities like Athens and Decatur also reported lower unemployment levels. Therefore, the data shows steady job growth across North Alabama.
Regional Trends Show Broad Growth
Neighboring counties reported similar trends. Limestone, Marshall, and Morgan counties each posted rates around 2.4%. Jackson County came in slightly higher at 3.1%, but still improved from last year.
These consistent numbers highlight a strong regional economy. In addition, they reflect ongoing growth in industries across the Huntsville area.
As hiring remains steady, officials expect the region to continue performing well in the months ahead.
