Radio Training Network plans to acquire radio signals in Huntsville, Atlanta, and Florence from Cumulus Media under a newly announced agreement, according to online reports.
Christian Broadcaster Expands Across the Southeast
Radio Training Network, which operates several Christian radio networks across the Southeast, will reportedly purchase three radio signals from Cumulus Media in a deal valued at approximately $2.45 million.
The acquisition includes a Huntsville-area signal tied to classic country station “93.3 Nash Icon” WWFF-FM in New Market. Reports also mention stations in Atlanta and Florence as part of the agreement.
Industry observers expect the Huntsville and Atlanta signals to join Radio Training Network’s “The Joy FM” network, which already serves listeners across Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.
Huntsville Signal Could Join “The Joy FM” Network
The Huntsville-area station currently broadcasts under the “93.3 Nash Icon” brand. However, reports suggest Radio Training Network may transition the signal to Christian adult contemporary programming after the sale closes.
Meanwhile, the Florence-area station could become part of the company’s “His Radio” network, which serves listeners in North and South Carolina.
Radio Training Network continues expanding its reach across the Southeast as Christian broadcasters compete for stronger regional coverage and digital audiences.
Atlanta Changes Also Connected to the Deal
Reports indicate the Atlanta signal involved in the transaction currently carries a classic hip-hop format branded as “OG 97.9.” That programming has already started shifting to other frequencies ahead of the planned sale.
In addition, Radio Training Network reportedly entered a long-term agreement connected to another Atlanta-area signal to strengthen coverage in the market. Industry reports say the company previously faced signal challenges after storm damage impacted one of its broadcast towers in 2023.
The transaction still requires regulatory approval before the ownership changes become official.
