Huntsville Music Month returned in September 2026 with more than 340 live music events across the city, surpassing the 250 events recorded the previous year and highlighting the growth of the local music scene.
September brings music to venues across Huntsville
Concerts and performances took place in parks, breweries, museums, classrooms and other community spaces. Free outdoor shows attracted crowds, while LAUNCHPAD gave local and regional musicians opportunities to perform at venues throughout the city.
Other highlights included Women in Music Week, which recognized women contributing to Huntsville’s music industry, CulturA Festival at The Orion Amphitheater, and the ongoing Jazz in the Park series.
The month’s expanded lineup reflected the variety of artists, events and organizations contributing to Huntsville’s music community.
Local artists reach national and international stages
Huntsville musicians also represented the city beyond Alabama. Artists performed at AMERICANAFEST in Nashville and traveled to Örebro, Sweden, for Live at Heart through an international exchange partnership involving the Huntsville Music Office and TIVEDEN Americana.
Huntsville Music Officer Matt Mandrella also presented the city’s music development efforts at the Music Cities Convention in Alberta, Canada.
These activities helped connect local performers with new audiences, industry contacts and opportunities beyond the Rocket City.
Music Month creates opportunities beyond performances
Huntsville Music Month also supported professional connections and community involvement. Industry events introduced participants to career resources and volunteer opportunities, while artist showcases encouraged collaboration.
Community programs brought music into new settings and gave residents more ways to discover local performers, support venues and music businesses, donate instruments and connect with the people behind the city’s music scene.
Although the September celebration has ended, its effects continue throughout the year. Artists, venues, businesses and community organizations remain central to Huntsville’s growing music ecosystem, with each performance and partnership helping create new opportunities.
