A Huntsville company is putting $250,000 toward the future of cybersecurity education at the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering.
Funding will support new campus projects
According to online reports, ProjectXYZ will direct the donation toward two major projects at the Huntsville school.
Part of the funding will help establish a research institute at ASCTE. The school describes the planned facility as the nation’s first high school research institute.
The donation will also support construction of a new 64-bed women’s dormitory. The additional housing will help the school expand its campus and accommodate more students.
Investment could help ASCTE grow
The Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering focuses on cybersecurity and technology education for high school students across the state.
The new facilities could give students more opportunities to study, conduct research and develop technical skills in a specialized environment.
ASCTE Foundation Executive Director PeggyLee Wright described the investment as an important step for the school’s growth. The funding will help turn long-term campus plans into physical facilities.
Students will gain internship opportunities
ProjectXYZ will also bring three ASCTE students into its internship program this semester.
The internships will give students a chance to gain hands-on experience while continuing their studies at the Huntsville-based school.
Together, the donation and internship program will connect classroom learning with real-world opportunities in the technology and cybersecurity fields.
