Huntsville’s final remaining Office Depot location is preparing to close as redevelopment continues at University Plaza, making way for the city’s first Nordstrom Rack store.
Office Depot Location Set to Close
The Office Depot store located at 5850 University Drive has served Huntsville residents, home-office workers, and businesses with office supplies, furniture, printing services, shipping assistance, and technology support.
According to reports, the closure will mark the end of Office Depot’s presence in Huntsville. The store has long been a destination for customers seeking everyday business essentials such as paper, ink, toner, office furniture, and custom printing services.
The closure is part of ongoing changes at University Plaza as new retailers move into the shopping center.
Nordstrom Rack Coming to Huntsville
The space will be redeveloped for a new Nordstrom Rack location, which will become the retailer’s first store in the Huntsville area.
Nordstrom Rack is the off-price retail division of Nordstrom and offers discounted pricing on apparel, shoes, accessories, beauty products, and home goods. Shoppers can often find merchandise from many of the same brands carried by traditional
Nordstrom stores at reduced prices.
According to online reports, the new store will occupy approximately 24,000 square feet within University Plaza, adding another major retail destination to the University Drive corridor.
Expanding Retail Options in North Alabama
Currently, the only Nordstrom Rack location in Alabama operates at The Summit shopping center in Birmingham. The Huntsville store will provide North Alabama shoppers with a closer option for the retailer’s discounted fashion and home merchandise offerings.
