A new sports complex is planned for the Decatur–Limestone County area near I-565, according to online reports.
Major Sports Complex Planned Near I-565
A partnership between Synergy Sports, Limestone County, the City of Decatur, and Crossroads LLC is moving forward on a new mixed-use sports complex. The proposed site is along Highway 20 near the I-65 and Huntsville–Decatur corridor.
In addition, the project aims to bring expanded recreational infrastructure to one of North Alabama’s fastest-growing regions.
Multiple Fields and Future Indoor Facility
The complex is expected to include several outdoor baseball and softball fields. It will also feature multi-use turf fields that can support soccer, football, and other sports.
As a result, the venue will be able to host year-round tournaments and regional competitions. Plans also call for a future indoor facility that would further expand programming options.
Economic Impact and Regional Growth
Developers say the project could drive significant economic activity through sports tourism. Tournaments are expected to attract teams and families from across Alabama and neighboring states, including Tennessee and the broader Southeast.
Meanwhile, additional development such as residential, commercial, and hospitality projects is also expected around the complex. Synergy Sports, which has experience developing similar facilities nationwide, will help guide planning and execution.
