Huntsville reporter Emily Moessner leaves station

A familiar face in north Alabama news is moving on from her role, according to online reports.

North Alabama Reporter Announces Departure

Multimedia journalist Emily Moessner has announced her departure from WHNT News 19 after four and a half years with the station. Her final on-air day was May 21, according to a public statement shared on Facebook.

Moessner joined the Huntsville-based news team in January 2022. In her announcement, she described the decision as bittersweet but said she is looking forward to what comes next. However, she did not share details about her future plans.

Career Changes Continue at Local Station

Moessner’s departure follows other recent staffing changes at the station earlier this year. In addition, several on-air personalities have announced transitions to new roles or organizations.

Meteorologist Aaron Ayers previously left the station and later joined the University of Alabama in Huntsville Earth System Science Center as a research associate. Meanwhile, former morning anchor Ellie Byrd also departed for a new position in Nashville.

Shifts Reflect Broader Industry Movement

Local newsrooms across the region have seen continued staff movement in recent months. Therefore, stations are frequently adjusting talent and roles as journalists pursue new opportunities.

Even so, WHNT News 19 continues regular local coverage as it moves forward with an evolving newsroom lineup.
