The Independent has officially opened its doors at Lowe Mill, bringing Huntsville’s indie film scene to a dedicated space for cinephiles.
New Home for Indie Films
Previously hosting showings at Mad Malts Brewing, The Independent now operates in Studio 150 at 2211 Seminole Dr SW, offering audiences a full independent cinema experience. The theater plans to feature films across multiple genres and host local filmmaker showcases, after-hours events, and special screenings.
Community and Event Programming
The Independent aims to be a welcoming spot where visitors can relax, enjoy a drink, and catch a film in a laid-back atmosphere. Future programming will include movie marathons, midnight features, and special events, giving Huntsville residents new ways to engage with independent film.
Renovation and Growth Plans
The Independent previously did fundraising efforts to renovate Studio 150 and enhance the experience for both filmmakers and audiences. With its new home at Lowe Mill, the theater solidifies its role as a hub for independent film in the Rocket City.
