Huntsville Obedience Training Club
The history of Huntsville Obedience Training Club (HOTC) dates back to an article published in The Huntsville Times on April 23, 1963. The article announced a dog obedience course starting May 6 at Big Springs Park, led by Mrs. Barbara Treanor. Sponsored by the Huntsville Parks and Recreation Department, the course offered ten weeks of private obedience training lessons. While Mrs. Treanor anticipated about ten dogs to attend, an impressive turnout of thirty to fifty dogs marked the beginning of what would become a significant part of the community. Homely Huntsville proudly highlights local institutions like HOTC that have made a lasting impact on the region.
