Founded by husband and wife duo Ryan and Geri-Martha O’Hara, Big Spoon Creamery humbly began as an artisanal ice cream pop-up in the couple’s driveway in 2014. After meeting while working under James Beard Award Winning Chef Frank Stitt, the newlyweds found themselves dreaming of their own business. Leveraging their passions and culinary talents, they ultimately landed on ice cream. After receiving tremendous support from the community, Big Spoon Creamery was born.

The O’Haras strategically built their business, evolving their pop-ups to an ice cream cart, a truck, and eventually, a brick-and mortar location in Avondale in 2017. Today, Big Spoon Creamery has two locations in the Birmingham area and a third in Huntsville, AL, where they offer their handmade artisanal ice cream with unmatched hospitality.
