Phat Sammy’s to close its Downtown Huntsville location

Phat Sammy’s, the beloved downtown Huntsville restaurant, will close its doors permanently on February 14, 2026.

Downtown Location to Close

After six years at 104 Jefferson Street South, Phat Sammy’s announced the closure on social media. Owners cited the end of their lease as the reason and teased new projects outside of downtown, signaling that this is not the end of their culinary ventures. Fans are invited to visit one last time before the restaurant officially closes on Valentine’s Day.

Unique Menu and Local Favorites

Phat Sammy’s became known for its creative fusion dishes such as beef shoulder birria ramen and Phat Fries. The restaurant’s vibrant decor, colorful murals, and welcoming environment made it a go-to spot for locals, first dates, and visiting guests alike. Over the years, the menu evolved, but its signature flavors and inventive combinations remained a staple.

From Pop-Up to Permanent Fixture

The restaurant started as a pop-up in 2017 with chef Jeremy Esterly and quickly grew thanks to support from co-owners including Nick Quinn. Phat Sammy’s captured a loyal following and became a downtown favorite, helping define Huntsville’s dining scene. While the current location closes, the team promises future projects and new concepts for the community.
