North Huntsville’s largest retail development continues to gain momentum.
According to online reports, construction on the highly anticipated Super Target and Home Depot is expected to begin this fall as new details emerge about additional stores, restaurants, and future phases of the project.
Construction expected to begin this fall
The $240 million North Village Town Center is taking shape at the intersection of North Memorial Parkway and the Northern Bypass. Developers expect to finalize real estate closings with Target and Home Depot in August and September, allowing construction to move forward later this fall.
City officials also shared that every retail space in the project’s first phase has already been committed.
The first phase includes approximately 350,000 square feet of retail space and is expected to feature several nationally recognized brands. However, officials have not yet announced the remaining tenants.
Restaurants and additional businesses on the way
According to online reports, the city is also working to finalize plans for three nearby outparcels across Memorial Parkway from the main development.
Those sites are expected to include sit-down restaurants, while a Valvoline Express has already secured one location near Food City. In addition, city officials said announcements for more retailers could arrive once property closings are complete later this year.
Phase One of North Village Town Center remains on schedule to open in 2027.
More growth planned for north Huntsville
Development around North Village Town Center continues to expand. Huntsville Hospital is designing a new $50 million emergency and imaging center that will anchor a future phase of the project.
Meanwhile, nearby residential communities are also moving forward. The recently approved Harris Farms development will bring approximately 1,800 homes to the area, while Camden Place is already under construction.
The Northern Bypass also continues to make progress. The first phase is about 75% complete and is expected to open by the end of the year.
Once finished, the roadway could reduce commute times between north Huntsville and west Huntsville by as much as 15 minutes while supporting continued commercial and residential growth.
