A massive new community is taking shape in Limestone County, with Westmoore Landing set to bring thousands of homes and new amenities near Huntsville.
Construction begins on Westmoore Landing
According to online reports, developers broke ground on Aug. 31 on the 395-acre project near Mooresville.
Westmoore Landing will include up to 3,000 homes once complete. Developers Land Innovations and Rochford Realty & Construction Co. expect the first residents to move in as early as 2027.
However, the full project will take much longer. Developers expect construction to continue for 10 to 20 years before the community reaches its full build-out.
The development sits near the I-65 and I-565 interchange, giving future residents access to major routes around the Huntsville area.
What will Westmoore Landing include?
Westmoore Landing will offer more than residential neighborhoods. The master plan also calls for a mix of commercial and recreational spaces.
Plans include:
- Up to 3,000 homes
- Commercial areas
- Retail and office space
- Green spaces
- Outdoor event areas
- Playgrounds
- Townhomes
The residential portion will come first. Developers expect to complete an initial section of townhomes within the next 10 months.
Commercial construction will follow as the larger community takes shape.
A major addition to the growing region
The project has been in development for several years. The Huntsville Planning Commission approved its plan in October 2025 after the city annexed nearly 400 acres in the area earlier that year.
Westmoore Landing takes inspiration from The Village of Providence, a well-known Huntsville community that combines residential areas with shops, offices and public spaces.
At full build-out, the new development could add thousands of households to the region. It could also bring new shopping, dining, recreation and gathering spaces to the area.
For the Huntsville region, Westmoore Landing represents another major sign of continued growth across Limestone County and the surrounding communities.
