Huntsville to add new parking lot near Von Braun Center.
City Approves Contract for Downtown Parking
The City of Huntsville will build a new surface parking lot near the Von Braun Center after approving a contract with Grayson Carter & Son Contracting. The lot will be located at the southwest corner of Monroe Street and Holmes Avenue, within the footprint of the Front Row mixed-use development currently under construction.

This project is part of a 2023 development agreement with Front Row developers, allowing the City to ground lease a portion of the site for public parking. The new lot will be owned and operated by the City, providing additional parking in a growing downtown area.
City officials say the ground lease offers a cost-effective way to increase parking inventory near the Von Braun Center, Big Spring Park, and the Pedestrian Access & Redevelopment Corridor (PARC) project. The lot will also help offset spaces lost when Lot K on Clinton Avenue becomes a staging area for the upcoming PARC improvements to Pinhook Creek.
