The City of Madison has established designated exchange zones at City Hall to give residents a monitored location for online purchases, property handoffs and other exchanges.
Two exchange spaces available at City Hall
The Madison Police Department announced that two designated parking spaces are available at City Hall, located at 100 Hughes Road. Security cameras monitor the spaces around the clock, providing an added layer of oversight for residents meeting others to complete transactions.
A resource for online sales and personal exchanges
Residents can use the spaces for purchases through online marketplaces, sales between individuals, property handoffs and custody exchanges. The zones are also available for other transactions where meeting in a monitored location may provide greater peace of mind.
Police encourage residents to use the zones
The Madison Police Department encourages residents to consider using the designated spaces when arranging in-person exchanges with people they do not know. The monitored location offers a public option for completing transactions and exchanging belongings.
