Huntsville Hospital Health System has reached an agreement to acquire Crestwood Medical Center, expanding locally coordinated health care services in North Alabama.
Details of the Acquisition
The agreement with Community Health Systems Inc. includes the purchase of all Crestwood Medical Center assets. These assets include the main hospital, outpatient centers, physician practices, and the freestanding emergency department in Harvest.
The deal is valued at $450 million and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, according to Huntsville Hospital Health System.
What This Means for Patient Care
For now, Crestwood Medical Center will continue normal operations. Additionally, there will be no immediate changes to patient care, medical staff privileges, or services during the transition.
Huntsville Hospital Health System President and CEO Jeff Samz said the acquisition reflects continued investment in the community’s health care needs. He also noted that the system aims to support both patients and employees as the region grows.
Community Impact and Leadership Response
Crestwood CEO Justin Serrano said the acquisition creates new opportunities for patients and the broader Huntsville community.
He added that locally coordinated care under Huntsville Hospital Health System will help strengthen services and improve long-term health outcomes across the area.
