ToggleReviving Huntsville’s hi-fi experience
Co-owner Chip Bowen recalled a time when Huntsville had multiple hi-fi stores, something that has become rare in most cities. “We offer a space where people can experience quality audio equipment, which has been missing for years,” he said.
Bowen emphasized that vinyl records provide a richer listening experience than digital music. “I’m really excited about vinyl’s comeback. This idea has been in the works for years, and with support from Downtown Huntsville, Inc. (DHI) and the city, Huntsville is becoming a music destination. We wanted to create a space where collectors and enthusiasts could gather and celebrate this revival,” he added.
The Vinyl Record Trail showcases Huntsville’s music scene
DHI collaborated with AVIQ to launch the Vinyl Record Trail, highlighting Huntsville’s rich musical history.
“We have an incredible music legacy in Huntsville, but many people don’t realize how deep it runs,” said Karla Palacios of DHI. “This event connects the community with local music collectors and businesses, helping to rediscover the record-collecting culture.”
She noted that the Vinyl Record Trail offers a guided experience through unique downtown locations, bringing new visitors to different businesses.
Supporting local record shops
The event drew around 200 visitors, but participating record stores—including Black Rose Records, Huntsville Revisited, Maxwell’s Music, and Vertical House Records—offer vinyl year-round.
Bowen hinted at more events in the future, ensuring that Huntsville’s vinyl scene continues to grow.
