Two metro towns score $6.2 million for major water and sewer upgrades

Two North Alabama towns will benefit from $6.2 million in federal funding for critical water and sewer infrastructure projects, U.S. Rep. Dale Strong announced on Nov. 14.

Major Improvements for Ardmore

Ardmore will receive nearly $5.2 million to build a groundwater treatment facility to replace the town’s aging wells. The project will ensure a sustainable, reliable source of drinking water for residents.

Mayor Billy Shannon said, “We’ve had to rely on outside sources for water just to meet the needs of our residents. This federal funding will finally allow us to increase Ardmore’s water capacity and provide a sustainable supply for years to come.”

Sewer Upgrades for Triana

The town of Triana will use $1 million to make vital sanitary sewer upgrades, ensuring the system remains operational even during power outages.
Triana Mayor Mary Caudle noted, “It’s a major win for our town, and we’re grateful for [Rep. Strong’s] continued partnership and support.”

Importance of Federal Infrastructure Support

Rep. Strong emphasized the broader significance of these investments, stating, “Every community deserves access to safe drinking water and reliable infrastructure. Modernizing essential systems allows rural communities to grow and thrive.”

These projects were funded through the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies bill, recently signed into law.
