Two hotels coming near Joe Davis Stadium

Huntsville will soon add 222 new hotel rooms near Joe Davis Stadium, boosting accommodations for sports fans and event visitors.

Dual-brand Hilton hotels planned

In October, the city issued building permits for two Hilton properties at 3111 and 3113 Don Mincher Drive. One hotel will be a 108-room LivSmart Studios by Hilton, offering apartment-style suites with full kitchens, fitness facilities, and laundry access. Meanwhile, the 114-room Tru Hotel by Hilton will feature functional rooms with desks, pet-friendly policies, a fitness room, and complimentary breakfast. Both hotels will stand five stories tall and include meeting space for conferences and events.

Enhancing stadium and community development

The city is leasing four acres to BREG HSV L.L.C. for the hotels, which aim to support the renovated stadium’s draw. The stadium hosts Huntsville City FC of Major League Soccer’s NEXT Pro league, as well as high school football, community events, and other athletic activities. Additionally, a 1.5-acre commercial site will include restaurants and retail to complement the hotels.

Broader development near John Hunt Park

These hotels form part of the larger Stadium Commons development, a $145 million project featuring retail, offices, and a 408-space parking deck. Parkway Vesta LLC and Crunkleton Real Estate lead the project, while Brasfield & Gorrie handles construction. At the same time, John Hunt Park is receiving upgrades, including a 60,000-square-foot recreation center, expanded tennis complex, and the U.S. Veterans Memorial Museum. Together, these projects aim to establish the area as a hub for sports, events, and community activities.
