The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has opened its STEM Classroom Grant Program for applications, with a deadline of Sunday, September 15. The program will distribute $1.5 million to support STEM education projects in classrooms and schools across TVA’s seven-state service region.
“TVA understands the value of backing educators and students in their pursuit of excellence in STEM subjects,” said Jeff Lyash, TVA president and CEO. “Through these initiatives, we are equipping our future workforce in the Tennessee Valley with the skills needed to tackle challenges in the years ahead.”
Teachers can apply for up to $5,000 in funding for STEM projects, with priority given to those focusing on TVA’s key areas: energy, environmental stewardship, economic development, career growth, and community problem-solving.
Eligible applicants include K-12 teachers or administrators from public or private schools in the TVA service area that receive power from a TVA-served distributor. Last year, $1.5 million in grants were awarded, with 343 out of 715 applications receiving funding.
