A Legendary Music History
During its heyday in the mid-1980s through early 1990s, Tip Top hosted early performances by now-famous bands like Widespread Panic, Goo Goo Dolls, 311, and The Black Crowes (then Mr. Crowe’s Garden). The bar also welcomed roots icons like Bo Diddley, The Iguanas, and Buckwheat Zydeco, as well as celebrity visits from River Phoenix’s band and Cheap Trick.
New Management and Amenities
Tip Top’s new operators, John Chamness and Evan Billiter (founders of St. Stephens Music Hall and Campus No. 805), are introducing a restaurant component called Veloce Pizza, led by Trevar Akins of the Huntsville Beastie Boys tribute band Beastie Goys.
The reopening will coincide with the final St. Stephens Music Hall show on November 22, before operations fully transition to Tip Top Café.
Tip Top Café is located at 125 Maple Ave., Huntsville, AL, in the Lincoln Mill area.
