The Local Café to bring Chef Erick Luther’s flavors to Downtown Huntsville

Downtown Huntsville will soon welcome a new sandwich spot. The Local Café, or simply The Local, is set to open in mid-November at 103 North Side Square, taking over the former Domaine South location.

A new addition to Mercado Group

The Local Café will join Chef Erick Luther’s growing portfolio of popular eateries under the Mercado Group, including The Standard Social Market and Del Chuco Cocina Y Cantina. Luther’s culinary experience spans Huntsville favorites like Pan e Vino and Cotton Row, as well as training at the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Austin, Texas.

Local ingredients, familiar faces

Luther emphasizes fresh, locally sourced ingredients to elevate each dish. His wife, Stephanie Luther, manages the social side of the Mercado Group, ensuring guests feel welcomed and connected. She maintains market shelves, coordinates with local vendors, and curates memorable experiences for patrons.

What to expect at The Local

While the menu remains under wraps, the café promises quality ingredients, approachable sandwiches, and a space to gather, eat, and socialize. The Local Café aims to continue the Mercado Group’s mission: shop, savor, and socialize, whether grabbing a quick bite, enjoying a casual meal, or planning events downtown.
