ToggleWhat is The Good Feet Store?
The Good Feet Store, located in Madison, off of Highway 72, is a chain store that sells shoes and insoles designed to align your body and reduce pain. The associates at The Good Feet Store examine your feet, gait, and problems and fit you with a three-piece arch support program.
The Good Feet Store is medically based and accepts Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Spending Account (HSA) payments.
What Should I Expect?
I visited a smaller shop right off Highway 72 in Madison, near Target. When I entered the store, an employee greeted me and immediately took me and seated me. Then, my fitting specialist came to greet me.
We had an in-depth discussion of my issues and expectations. We discussed what he thought might be a good solution before he had me stand up and take prints of the bottoms of my feet. He showed me the prints and explained what he saw. My arches looked pretty good, but there were still some areas for improvement.
He set me up on a foot massager, and stepped away to ‘figure out’ my feet. When he returned, he had me try on a pair of shoes (that he thought would be best suited to me), and showed me their three support systems. The strengtheners are designed to strengthen and improve your feet. They are designed to be worn for brief periods of time when you are just starting out, then to be worn more frequently as your feet change.
The maintainers are supportive, but less rigid. They are ideal for exercise. The relaxers are just what you would assume they are for. They are designed to be worn in your down time, when you still need support, but do not need as much structure as the other two supports. We tried on all three, and I was able to walk around the store to pinpoint what I liked and didn’t like about the support, and my fitter made adjustments as needed.
Overall, my fitter was lovely, and it was a good experience. But…
Is Good Feet Store Worth it?
Here is where things get a little sticky. The three support package, at its base, is very expensive, around $1,500, and it is not disclosed to you until after the fitting, at which point, you may feel obligated to purchase.
So for the average consumer, is it worth it?
No. Probably not.
I, on the other hand, am not the average consumer. I have a genetic disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome is a connective tissue disorder that affects all of the connective tissue in your body. It causes hypermobility, causes the affected person to be more prone to dislocation and injury, and causes chronic pain and fatigue.
So, even at this price, if these insoles could improve my quality of life and help to keep my day-to-day pain levels more manageable, then I felt like I would be willing to try.
Lifetime Warranty
Additionally, as a relatively young person, I am covered by a lifetime warranty on these insoles. My fitter informed me that most insoles last five to eight years, but the warranty does not only apply to the insoles themselves. If I begin to have any issues or feel that the insoles are not doing what I need them to do, I can go in and have them adjusted or replaced.
So, is Good Feet Worth it?
For someone like myself, who suffers from a chronic condition, yes, it might be worth it. For someone who is young and athletic, who frequently finds themselves purchasing new arch supports, it may be worth it. For someone who suffers greatly from foot, ankle, knee, hip, or back pain, it might be worth it.
For the average person, though, it may be better to just stick to a decent pair of shoes.
Something Unique About The Good Feet Store
One part of the experience that I did find quite unique is the amount of follow up the store keeps with you. My fitter let me know, right off the bat, that he received emails from his clients often. When it was time for me to check out, he asked when I would like to schedule my follow up appointment, and told me that he would call me to check in on how things were going at some point this week.
The employees at The Good Feet Store really do seem to care about how you are doing and how you are feeling in your new arch supports, which is something that you don’t get at any other run-of-the-mill running shoe store.

Overall, I’ll be the first to tell you that these stores aren’t for everyone. But if you need some support in your pain treatment journey, then this may be a good next step for you.
