ToggleStreamlining Access to Town Madison
The $37 million project, awarded to McInnis Construction and Miller & Miller in November 2022, is designed to simplify access to the mixed-use development, which includes Toyota Field.
Currently, drivers must exit I-565 two miles before Town Madison and navigate three signaled intersections. The eastbound interchange was completed in 2021.
Funding the Flyover Project
Madison bonded the full cost of the project to ensure timely completion, avoiding delays from waiting for state or federal funding. Mayor Paul Finley highlighted that the flyovers would improve traffic flow into Town Madison and Toyota Field while enhancing access to Redstone Arsenal’s Gate 7.
Economic Benefits and Tax Revenue Growth
As part of the funding strategy, the city annexed the Publix at Clift Farm, bringing an estimated $700,000 in annual tax revenue to help cover costs.
Officials anticipate retiring the bonds within a decade, driven by increasing revenue from Town Madison and Clift Farm developments.
