Police see spike in car break-ins, Mondays most targeted

Huntsville Police are urging residents to stay vigilant as vehicle break-ins climb this year, with Mondays reported as the most common day for thefts.

Break-In Numbers on the Rise

From January through June 2025, officers documented 435 car break-ins, an increase from 385 during the same period in 2024. Between April and June alone, 46 firearms were stolen from vehicles.

Safety Campaign: Lock, Secure, Protect

The department is reinforcing its “Lock, Secure, Protect” initiative, reminding drivers to lock doors and windows, remove valuables from view and remain alert in parking areas.

Community Responsibility

Police emphasize that simple precautions not only protect personal property but also help reduce overall crime and keep neighborhoods safer.
