Huntsville’s MidCity District is getting a major boost with plans for a $300 million expansion that will create a combined arts and innovation hub.
A New Scale for Music and Entertainment
At the heart of the project is MidCity Live, a 3,000-capacity indoor music venue designed to host mid-sized acts that have outgrown smaller clubs but aren’t ready for stadiums. The expansion also includes a revamped outdoor space, The Camp, capable of hosting 3,000 guests, and the Artemis Event + Market Building. Together with the 8,000-seat Orion Amphitheater, these venues will create a tiered entertainment system that attracts touring artists from across the Southeast.
Innovation and Economic Growth
The expansion will also feature an Innovation Campus developed by the nonprofit Apollo Coalition, including the gener8tor Tech Accelerator, NextGenHSV for high school AI projects, and specialized facilities for defense technology and sound production. Analysts project the subdistrict will support 386 permanent jobs and generate roughly $420 million in lodging and tax revenue, with over $220 million benefiting the city directly.
Hospitality and Lifestyle Amenities
To accommodate growing visitor numbers—already at 5.8 million annually—plans include two new hotels, including a 200-room music-branded property with dining and nightlife offerings. Developers aim to make the hotel a cultural gathering space that complements the district’s creative energy. Additional construction details and operator announcements for the music venue are expected in early 2026.
