Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle has appointed Allen Muzny as the city’s new Director of Inspection, bringing more than 30 years of experience in code enforcement and inspections. The City Council unanimously approved his appointment recently.

Muzny has worked in Huntsville’s Inspection Department since 2017, most recently serving as Deputy Director of Inspection Services. Before joining the city, he spent 23 years as a code official and Senior Plans Examiner for Madison County.
“With his experience and insight, Allen was a natural choice as the City’s next Director of Inspection,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. “We are excited to see him step into this pivotal role of serving Huntsville residents.”
A career dedicated to public service
Muzny was one of the first two code officials hired when Madison County established its Code Enforcement Department in 1994. Over the years, he has worked as a Plans Examiner and Senior Plans Examiner, contributing to numerous local and state initiatives. He also served on multiple boards and was selected as a State of Alabama Energy Code Ambassador during the development of the state’s energy code.
Commitment to Huntsville’s growth
Muzny and his wife, Pam, are Madison County natives, with their children also residing in the area. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to take on this new role.
“It’s a privilege to accept the appointment as the City’s Director of Inspection,” Muzny said. “I’m eager to contribute to the success and growth of our beautiful city and honored by the confidence placed in me by Mayor Battle and the City Council.
