Norfolk Southern began several weeks of railroad crossing repairs across Madison County on Monday, September 15, which will require temporary road closures at multiple locations, including several in Huntsville.
Temporary Closures and Traffic Control
Each repair is expected to close the affected road for no more than one day, with temporary traffic control and clearly marked detours in place. Contractors will notify impacted residents at least 24 hours in advance of any closure. Work schedules may shift due to train traffic or weather conditions.
Locations Scheduled for Repair in Huntsville
Several crossings in Huntsville are included in the repair schedule, such as Moores Mill Road, Oakwood Avenue, Meridian Street, Pratt Avenue, Cleveland Avenue, and Holmes Avenue. Other locations in Madison County and the Town of Gurley will also be worked on.
Public Notice and Patience Requested
The City of Huntsville thanks residents for their patience as Norfolk Southern completes these critical infrastructure improvements, which aim to improve safety and reliability at crossings throughout the county.
