Huntsville native Jon Sumrall is reportedly set to become the next head football coach at the University of Florida, according to online reports.
Coaching Career Highlights
Sumrall, 43, spent the past two seasons at Tulane, where he led the Green Wave to a 19-7 record. Prior to that, he coached Troy University to a 23-4 mark over two seasons, winning Sun Belt conference championships in both years.
Tulane is once again competing in the American Conference championship game this year, with Sumrall expected to remain with the team through that game and any potential College Football Playoff appearance.

A former standout at Grissom High School, Sumrall was a two-time all-state performer and four-year letter winner. He was inducted into the Huntsville-Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023, highlighting his lasting impact on local athletics.
Contract Details
According to ESPN, Florida is finalizing a six-year contract with Sumrall, averaging nearly $7.5 million per year, with additional incentives tied to College Football Playoff performance.
