Huntsville placed No. 10 overall after WalletHub evaluated 182 cities nationwide. The rankings were based on job market strength and socio-economic factors using more than 30 metrics.
Huntsville stood out in several key areas:

20th – Job opportunities
19th – Housing affordability
33rd – Average work and commute time
43rd – Median annual income
55th – Employment growth
78th – Average monthly starting salary

WalletHub’s top 10 cities for job seekers this year are:
Scottsdale, AZ
Columbia, MD
Portland, ME
South Burlington, VT
Pittsburgh, PA
Orlando, FL
Plano, TX
Washington, DC
Austin, TX
Huntsville, AL
Mobile was the only other Alabama city to appear in the top 100, ranking 98th overall.
How the Rankings Were Determined
WalletHub compared the 150 most populated U.S. cities along with at least two of the largest cities in each state. The analysis went beyond job availability alone. It also considered wages, job security, affordability, commute times, and overall quality of life.
Analysts note that cities offering a balance of strong employment options and livability tend to rank highest, making Huntsville’s inclusion a sign of continued economic momentum.
