Huntsville City Council has approved two major development agreements expected to generate over 450 new jobs and nearly $200 million in capital investment.
Blue Origin Expands Operations
Blue Origin will invest $71.4 million to expand operations at Cummings Research Park and Jetplex Industrial Park. The project is projected to create 105 new jobs.
Additionally, the City will provide up to $200,000 in hiring incentives and $200,000 for infrastructure improvements as the project meets specific milestones. Officials say this expansion strengthens Huntsville’s position as a hub for aerospace and advanced manufacturing.
SPX Enterprises to Build New Facility
SPX Enterprises will construct a $118 million production facility west of County Line Road in the Greenbrier area. The 460,000-square-foot plant will manufacture large-scale cooling and air-handling equipment for data centers, creating 350 jobs.
The City and Industrial Development Authority approved up to $250,000 in contingent incentives tied to hiring and wage benchmarks through December 31, 2029. Leaders note that this investment supports regional workforce growth and long-term economic development.
Economic Impact and Incentives
Both agreements include non-educational tax abatements for 10 years. Mayor Tommy Battle highlighted Huntsville’s stable governance and highly skilled workforce as key factors attracting large-scale investments.
City officials say these projects will fuel Huntsville’s economy for years to come while providing new employment opportunities across the region.
