Huntsville is allocating more than $322,800 in federal funding to support local non-profit organizations, according to online reports.
City Approves Funding for Community Programs
The City Council recently approved the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. The grants will help nine local organizations provide services that benefit low- and moderate-income residents across Huntsville.
Scott Erwin, Community Development Manager, said, “CDBG funding allows us to invest directly in the organizations that make a difference in our community every day. These partners help ensure residents have access to safe housing, healthcare, job training, and supportive services that strengthen neighborhoods.”
Services Supported by the Grants
The funding will support programs in housing navigation, homelessness outreach, healthcare access, dental care, workforce development, youth programs, disability home repairs, and recovery services. By supporting these efforts, the city aims to improve quality of life for residents and address pressing community needs.
Who Is Receiving the Grants
The following organizations will receive CDBG funding in 2026:
HATCH HSV, Inc. – $100,000
Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama – $50,000
First Stop, Inc. – $35,000
Community Free Dental Clinic, Inc. – $35,000
Downtown Rescue Mission, Inc. – $30,000
Christmas Charities Year Round, Inc. – $30,000
New Futures, Inc. – $17,800
Heritage Home, Inc. (His Way Recovery Center) – $15,000
ENABLE Madison County, Inc. – $10,000
The CDBG program is federally funded and locally administered by Huntsville’s Community Development department. It aims to improve neighborhood conditions and respond to urgent community needs.
