Huntsville International Airport has unveiled newly renovated restrooms as part of a multi-million-dollar improvement plan scheduled to take place throughout 2025, according to an online report.
Modern Upgrades for Traveler Comfort
Located near Gate 4 on the east side of the concourse, the new men’s and women’s restrooms sit next to a lactation room for nursing mothers and the family restrooms that opened earlier this year. These updated facilities now offer double the space of the originals. New features include touch-free fixtures, stainless steel stall doors with occupancy indicators, and backlit vanity mirrors.
“We are proud to offer these beautiful new amenities to our customers,” said Butch Roberts, CEO of Huntsville International Airport. “We appreciate their patience as we continue improving our facilities for their benefit.”
Major Investment in Airport Experience
The $5.7 million project began last summer and received funding from the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Design work came from EDT-THA, with construction led by Robins & Morton.
This renovation is part of the airport’s ongoing “HSV Refresh” program. The initiative follows back-to-back years of record-setting traveler volume. According to its latest annual report, the airport has more than $142 million in capital improvement projects currently under contract or construction.
New Concourse Amenities Coming Soon
In March, the airport opened a $14 million concourse connector to help passengers move through the terminal faster and more securely. Additional upgrades to food, beverage, and retail areas will roll out later this year.
A Starbucks and Interstellar Pizza are expected to open this summer near Gates 9 and 10. Once those launch, the Spaceport Café and Beer Garden will close temporarily for renovations. During that time, travelers will find grab-and-go kiosks throughout the concourse.
“We know these upgrades may come with some short-term inconveniences,” said Mary Swanstrom, the airport’s public relations director. “But the end results will be fantastic improvements for our passengers.”
