Huntsville Airport sets another passenger record

Huntsville International Airport set a new passenger record for the third straight year in 2025.

Passenger Numbers Continue to Climb

A total of 1,722,898 travelers passed through the airport last year, marking a 5.3% increase over 2024. Airport officials pointed to strong demand for air service in the Tennessee Valley and continued population growth across North Alabama.

“This historic milestone is a clear signal that our community is growing and that travelers value the air service available at Huntsville International Airport,” said Joey Ceci, chair of the Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority. He added that ongoing infrastructure investments will help modernize the airport and enhance the passenger experience.

The airport has now posted three consecutive years of growth. In 2023, Huntsville recorded 1,473,629 passengers, followed by 1,635,589 travelers in 2024.

Airlines and Expanded Service Drive Growth

Expanded flight options played a major role in the record-setting year. Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Breeze Airways, Delta Air Lines, and United

Airlines all contributed to the increase. Together, the carriers now offer nonstop service to 19 destinations.

Among legacy airlines, Delta Air Lines led with a 12.6% increase in passengers. Meanwhile, ultra-low-cost carrier Breeze Airways recorded the largest jump, growing by 41% year over year.

“Our airline partners added five new nonstop destinations, increased flight frequency, and introduced larger aircraft to meet demand,” said Butch Roberts, CEO of Huntsville International Airport.

Summer Travel Tops the Charts

As expected, the busiest travel period occurred during the summer months. July led the year with more than 168,000 passengers, followed by June with over 160,000 and May with nearly 157,000 travelers.

Overall, the airport surpassed its 2024 passenger totals in 10 of 12 months. November saw a brief dip, which officials said may have been influenced by a federal government shutdown. However, travel rebounded in December, with nearly 142,000 passengers, a 3.3% increase from the previous year.

Looking ahead, airport leaders expect demand to remain strong. Planned improvements include more than $121 million in infrastructure upgrades, such as a parking deck expansion, new dining options, and a major concourse renovation.
