The Alabama Department of Transportation plans to resurface a major section of U.S. Highway 82 in western Tuscaloosa County next month, according to online reports.
Project Scope and Location
The resurfacing work will cover approximately 4.79 miles of Highway 82, stretching from near Echola Road to near Buhl Cut-off Road. The project is intended to improve traffic flow and enhance safety along this busy corridor.
Timeline and Contractor
According to online reports, Tuscaloosa-based S.T. Bunn Construction Company has been awarded the $5.3 million contract. Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, Dec. 1, and could continue through late summer 2026, depending on weather conditions and overall progress.
Traffic Impact and Lane Restrictions
To reduce congestion during peak travel times, ALDOT will not allow lane closures on the eastbound side of the highway between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Motorists are encouraged to plan for delays, follow posted work-zone speed limits, and stay alert while traveling through the construction zone.
