Mounting financial challenges, changes in how people shop, and growing pressure from online retailers like Shein and Temu have pushed Forever 21 into its second bankruptcy filing in six years.
Parkway Place location in Huntsville affected
The Huntsville store at Parkway Place Mall is among the three Alabama locations set to close, joining Riverchase Galleria in Birmingham and Tanger Outlets in Foley. The news aligns with a broader national trend of declining foot traffic in malls and rising vacancies in traditional retail spaces.
Company seeks a way forward
Forever 21 leadership has announced plans to undergo a court-supervised process in search of a potential buyer. With limited options left, this move may be the company’s final chance to keep the brand afloat in some form.
