The City of Huntsville has approved a contract with Miller & Miller, Inc. for streetscape upgrades along a key downtown corridor.
The project covers 1,000 linear feet of Monroe Street between Williams and Clinton avenues, introducing new sidewalks, streetlights, landscaping, irrigation, and asphalt resurfacing. Work is set to begin soon and is expected to be completed within 90 days after the notice to proceed.

ToggleRevitalizing Monroe Street for a growing downtown
This initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to revitalize Monroe Street, particularly as the Trilogy Hotel nears completion across from the Von Braun Center. Previous improvements in the area include redevelopment projects at the Von Braun Center and a newly constructed city parking deck.
Creating a more walkable and attractive corridor
The latest enhancements will introduce landscaping, irrigation, and two large decorative pedestrian crossings—one near the parking deck and another by Big Spring Park. Additionally, the entire roadway will be resurfaced, further modernizing the corridor.
A commitment to Huntsville’s future
“These improvements will enhance both the functionality and appearance of Monroe Street,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. “As redevelopment continues in the area, these upgrades will help create a more vibrant and welcoming space for both residents and visitors.”
