Phoebe Bridgers is bringing her new album to Huntsville for an immersive listening experience at the Intuitive Planetarium inside the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.
A special night in Huntsville
According to online reports, the Lost Weekend Planetarium Experience will give local fans an early listen to Bridgers’ first solo album in six years.
The event pairs the complete album with stunning nighttime photography from National Geographic photographer Babak Tafreshi. His work spans night skies and landscapes from locations around the world.
The Intuitive Planetarium’s massive dome will surround guests with these visuals as Bridgers’ new music plays throughout the experience.
Bridgers returns with new music
Lost Weekend marks Bridgers’ third solo album. It follows Stranger in the Alps from 2017 and Punisher from 2020.
The new project includes the single “Lost Boys” and arrives after Bridgers spent recent years performing with boygenius and collaborating with other major artists.
She has also made several Alabama appearances. Earlier this year, Bridgers performed a pop-up show in Mobile. Her previous Alabama performances include appearances at Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores and Avondale Brewing Company in Birmingham.
The planetarium adds an immersive touch
The Huntsville event offers a different way to experience a new album. Rather than a traditional concert setting, the planetarium combines music with large-scale imagery and a dark, immersive environment.
In addition, guests must put their phones into Yondr pouches during the presentation. This setup allows the audience to experience the music and visuals without phone distractions.
The Intuitive Planetarium features an 8K dome and seats 248 people. The venue has also hosted music-focused presentations in the past, including the Rolling Stones concert film Rolling Stones: At the Max.
