The busy Owens Cross Roads post office is set to relocate to improve service for the growing North Alabama community.
USPS Approves Relocation
The United States Postal Service has officially decided to move the Owens Cross Roads Post Office. The current branch is located at 9032 Highway 431 South.
The new proposed site is 8396 Highway 431 South, just north of the existing building. If that property is not suitable or an agreement cannot be reached, USPS said other locations will be considered.
Addressing Ongoing Concerns
The move follows months of customer complaints. In late 2025, residents reported overflowing packages, delayed pickups and crowded parking at the current site.
USPS mailed postcards to customers last year seeking feedback about the possible relocation. Officials say the new facility is intended to better handle demand in the fast-growing area.
Services to Remain the Same
USPS confirmed that the relocated branch will offer the same services as the current location. The goal, officials said, is to improve efficiency and provide a better experience for customers while maintaining full postal operations.
