North Huntsville is preparing for another major expansion.
According to online reports, the Huntsville City Council has approved plans for Harris Farms, a 500-acre community that will bring approximately 1,800 new homes to one of the city’s fastest-growing areas.
Mixed housing planned for north Huntsville
Harris Farms will sit north of Bob Wade Lane (Northern Bypass) and east of Mount Lebanon Road. In addition, the development will be located near the future North Village Town Center, the planned Huntsville Hospital emergency facility, and the North Huntsville Industrial Park.
The community will offer several housing types. These include single-family homes, townhomes, apartments, and a neighborhood for residents ages 55 and older. As a result, the project aims to serve a wide range of homebuyers and future residents.
Community amenities included in the plans
The proposed development will feature several amenities designed for recreation and everyday living. According to online reports, plans include walking trails, sidewalks, swimming pools, pickleball courts, tennis courts, fitness facilities, and multiple community gathering spaces.
Additionally, the developer plans to improve portions of Mount Lebanon Road as construction progresses. Those improvements will support both the new neighborhood and the surrounding area.
Construction expected over multiple phases
According to online reports, Phoenix-based developer Suncrest expects construction to take place over the next 10 to 15 years. The company also anticipates working with multiple home builders throughout the project.
Meanwhile, north Huntsville continues to attract new residential, retail, healthcare, and commercial investment. Once complete, Harris Farms will add one of the city’s largest master-planned communities and support the area’s continued growth.
