Huntsville has approved a $32.95 million construction contract for a new parking deck near The Orion Amphitheater, adding hundreds of spaces for concertgoers and visitors.
Four-story parking deck coming to MidCity
According to online reports, the City approved a construction contract with Thrash Commercial Contractors Inc. for the new facility.
The parking deck will sit across Amphitheater Drive from The Orion Amphitheater. The four-story structure will provide 924 parking spaces once complete.
The project will also include three elevators, stair lobbies, decorative metal panels, and landscaping around the facility.
Construction expected to finish in 2028
Construction is expected to begin soon, with the city targeting April 2028 for completion.
The new deck will provide additional parking capacity for concerts and other events at The Orion. It should also give visitors another parking option within the growing MidCity District.
Project aims to improve event traffic
More parking could help reduce congestion around The Orion during busy events. The city also expects the project to support continued development throughout the surrounding MidCity area.
As the district grows, the new parking structure will add infrastructure designed to serve both current events and future activity around the amphitheater.
